While most people or their families are not trained as doctors, even medical professionals have difficulty in accurately predicting when a person is likely to enter an aged care facility. Life however, does produce some very unpredictable or unforeseen outcomes- strokes, motor vehicle accidents, dementia, Parkinson’s disease and many other medical or physical events or conditions.

Centrelink are quite fair and allow many options for people to arrange their affairs in such a way that meets their guidelines providing deprivation rules or other criteria are adhered to. Attempts to re-arrange affairs to obtain an immediate benefit because someone may have been recently assessed to enter an aged care facility, may see or risk those actions being undone or reversed by Centrelink
